The tundra can be found in the upper part of North America, north part of South America, middle of Africa, a little bit in Australia, Europe, and Asia. Terrain: plain, mountains, rocks, and hills.
Insects in the Tundra (Mosquito)
A mosquito is a blood sucker. Its habit is the Arctic Tundra, its size is 0.3-2cm long, Adaption: basks in flowers, orientating its body to absorb solar radiation. Its diet: female: blood (of caribou and musk ox); male: nectar, Its predators are birds, bats, dragonflies, and frogs. Extra facts are that- red bumps and itching caused by a bite is an allergic reaction to its saliva.
Beetles
A beetle is an insect resembling a member of the order Cleoptera. Beetles can be found in the Alpine Tundra, their size ranges from less than a millimeter all the way to tropical giants over 6 in. long, Beetles mostly eat plants. Some predators are Garden Wolf Spiders, birds, and Praying Mantis.
Butterflies
A butterfly is a nectar-feeding insect that has wings with tiny scales that are colorful and big. It feeds on nectar, and they lay their eggs on a leaf. A butterfly can grow to get 20 in. Its predators are frogs, lizards, birds, and spiders.
Praying Mantis
A green or brownish predatory insect, that while at rest folds its front legs as if in prayer. Diet-mostly insects and small scorpions, lizards, frogs, birds, snakes, and fish. Defense-strikes with forelegs, and the fanning of its wings. Predators-owls, bull frogs, chameleons, and milk snakes. The female will bite the head off of its mate. Habitat-plants.
Moths
Moths are much like butterflies, only they fly at night. They get up to 10 inches in wing spand. Some eat clothes, larvae eats fabric made from wool or silk (plants). Predators-bats, owls, birds, cats, lizards, dogs, rodents, and some bears.
